MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Responsible for the overall SHE aspects of Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP).
  • Facilitate obtaining all statutory approvals related to SHE.
  • Monitor compliance with statutory approvals and execute necessary actions.
  • Monitor all compliance requirements of member industries through the Environment Monitoring Cell (EMC).
  • Evaluate risks related to SHE while onboarding new investors and provide guidance to management.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Overall – SHE

  • Develop and implement health and safety programs within the company.
  • Ensure that environmental, health, and safety-related policies and procedures are updated and readily available.
  • Oversee safety training, on-site mock drills, site inspections, risk impact assessments, and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure that safety observations and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develop an environmental management plan for GIP, conforming to the highest environmental standards.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with environmental parameters of the units operating within the industrial park, in line with statutory norms.
  • Work closely with other member industries within GIP to create synergy on SHE aspects.
  • Plan and develop greenery as per Environmental Compliance (EC) and Consent to Establish (CTE) requirements.
  • Develop projects for conserving biodiversity.
  • Responsible for horticultural activities within GIP.
  • Implement Integrated Management Systems through ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.

Environmental Compliance Management

  • Develop a Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) plan for the industrial park.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the environmental compliance program for the industrial park, ensuring adherence to all local, state, and national environmental laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all conditions specified in the EC of the developer and member industries, as well as in their respective CTE/CTO (Consent to Operate).
  • Extend approved EC and CTE to the remaining areas of the industrial park.
  • Ensure the industrial park and member industries adhere to all necessary environmental permits, reporting, and documentation requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to monitor compliance with respect to safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Obtain and maintain environmental permits related to land development, waste management, water quality, air emissions, and other environmental factors.
  • Enhance biodiversity in the region by implementing and monitoring Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs).
  • Implement and monitor measures to conserve natural resources and support community-related environmental initiatives.

Regulatory Liaison & Advocacy

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, government agencies, and environmental consultants to ensure that the industrial park remains compliant.
  • Keep track of changes in environmental legislation and ensure the industrial park adheres to new and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Advocate for sustainable processes and policies to support the development and operations of member industries within the industrial park.

Sustainability Strategy

  • Collaborate with the business development and operations teams to integrate environmental compliance into the strategies of TSEZZL and member industries.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable infrastructure development to improve the environmental footprint of the industrial park.
  • Develop strategies to help member industries reduce their environmental impact and achieve sustainability goals in line with best environmental practices.

Risk Management and Reporting

  • Develop and implement environmental risk management strategies while onboarding industries from various sectors, including potential risks to the park and existing member industries.
  • Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports to regulatory agencies and senior management.
  • Respond to environmental violations, complaints, and incidents by ensuring corrective actions are implemented and resolutions documented.

Training and Awareness

  • Provide training and guidance to employees, contractors, and member industries on SHE policies, compliance procedures, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, environmental awareness, and accountability throughout the industrial park.

Management

  • Oversee environmental due diligence for new projects or developments, including assessments of environmental impacts and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams of member industries to ensure that environmental compliance is considered and integrated into the planning, design, and construction phases of new developments.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Should have a minimum of 10 years’ work experience in a reputable organization.
  • Full-time degree in Environmental Science or post-graduation in Environmental Science and/or a PG Diploma in Environmental Law/Industrial Safety. Experience in the Chemical & Petrochemical sector will be given preference.
  • Should be well-versed in environmental, health, and safety laws, rules, and regulations, and must have a good rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.
