Mr. D B Sundara Ramam

Mr. D B Sundara Ramam is a qualified B.Sc. Engineering in Mining discipline from NIT, Rourkela. Mr. Sundara Raman holds a First Class Mine Manager’s Competency Certificate in Coal from DGMS. In 1999, he completed General Management program from XLRI, Jamshedpur. Besides various internal training programs conducted within India, he has also attended various programs abroad which includes Tata Group Executive Leadership Development Program at UK, Training Program at Sustainable Mineral Institute at Brisbane, Australia, Senior Executive Management Programme at CEDEP, France and Global Leadership Development Programme.

Mr. Sundara Ramam joined Tata Steel as a Graduate Trainee in 1990. He worked in various capacities in Coal & Iron ore mines of Raw Materials Division, Ferro Alloys Division & Principal Executive Officer (PEO) to CEO & MD, Tata Steel in the last 34 years. He was designated as Vice President – Raw Materials before taking up the role of Vice President Corporate Services at Tata Steel, the position he currently holds.

Mr. Sundara Ramam has rich experience in leadership roles across diverse functions. Currently, he is serving as Vice President – Corporate Services at Tata Steel

Mr. Sandeep Bhattacharya

Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director

Mr. Sandeep Bhattacharya is a qualified Cost and Works Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and has also completed his PGDBM (Management) from IMT Ghaziabad. Mr. Bhattacharya joined Tata Steel in 2011 as Chief, Finance & Accounts, Odisha Projects. He spent his initial years as Assistant Vice President, Business Finance at Bharat Oman Refineries Limited. He was designated as Chief, Financial Transaction & Control before taking up the role of Chief, Financial Operations & Business Finance. He was appointed as Vice President, Financial Control & Business Analytics in 2024. He has worked in different capacities within Tata Steel in Financial Operations, Business Finance & Corporate Reporting. In 2014, he was appointed as Chief, Financial Transaction & Control and later re-designated as Chief, Financial Operations & Business Finance.

Mr. Bhattacharya has rich experience in leadership roles across diverse functions including finance and treasury. Currently, he is serving as the Vice President, Financial Control & Business Analytics at Tata Steel.

Ms. Atrayee Sanyal

Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director

Ms. Atrayee Sanyal, a graduate from Calcutta University and a qualified MBA, joined Tata Steel in 1998 in the Marketing Division. She has also completed General Management Program from CEDEP (INSEAD) and has also won the British Chevening Scholarship in leadership & management. She spent her initial years in Marketing & Sales, spearheading the branding journey of the company. She was designated as Chief of Marketing & Sales for Branded Products, Retail and Solutions in 2014 before taking up the role in Human Resource Division in 2017. She was appointed as Vice President, HRM in 2021. In her career span of 25 years, she has led the departments/functions of marketing & sales, Chief Diversity Officer and human resources in various capacities.

Ms. Sanyal has rich experience in leadership roles in human resources and marketing & sales. Currently, she is serving as Vice President, Human Resource Management at Tata Steel.

Mr. Manikanta Naik

Managing Director

Mr. Naik joined Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited as its Managing Director in May 2023. Prior to that, he served as the Senior General Manager (Operation & Maintenance), Sponge, at Tata Steel Long Products Limited.

Having joined Tata Steel Limited in 1992 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee, Mr. Naik spent his initial years in various capacities at Tata Steel’s Raw Materials Division followed by a three-year stint in an overseas project in the Middle East. He played a key role in the renewal of mining leases and establishment of greenfield projects in Odisha while working closely with the Government authorities in the capacity of Chief Resident Executive, Bhubaneswar for over five years. Later, he was actively involved in the successful acquisition of Bhushan Steel and its successful merger with Tata Steel while working as Chief – Corporate Services for Tata Steel BSL for more than three years.

Mr. Naik has served on the boards of Tata Sponge, TS Alloys & Kalinga Aquatics and has been actively involved in various industry forums like CII, UCCI, ICC, FIMI etc.

An alumnus of Regional Engineering College (now National Institute of Technology), Rourkela, Mr. Naik has attended the Executive Business Management Program from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). He is an avid fitness enthusiast, and his hobbies include playing Lawn Tennis & Badminton and facilitating development of sports infrastructure.

Mr Prasanta Mallick

Managing Director

Mr Prasanta Mallick joined Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited as its Managing Director in July 2019. Prior to that, he served as as General Manager, Corporate Services (CS) for Tata Steel Kalinganagar, Odisha. There, he successfully handled a complex and challenging socio-political and economic environment, ensuring that the concerns of internal and external stakeholders were well addressed. This helped him create an enabling environment for operating the first Greenfield Project in the history of Tata Steel.

With over 30 years of experience at Tata Steel Limited, Mr Mallick has worked in various capacities across plants and mining divisions of the company. He has contributed meaningfully towards achieving organisational goals in line with Tata Steel’s values and ethics. He is credited with working in a system and process-driven approach to create value for the company and the society at large.

He has also served as the Managing Director of TS Alloys (now ‘Tata Steel Mining Limited’), a 100% subsidiary of Tata Steel in the past, where he led the company’s transformation from a loss-making unit to a profit-making organization.

A Mechanical Engineer holding an MBA degree from XIMB, he started his career as an Engineer in Tata Steel in 1988.

Mr Manoj T Thomas

Independent, Non-Executive Director

Mr Manoj Thomas joined the Board of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited in December 2015.

He is a Professor in the strategic management area at Xavier’s School of Management (XLRI). He has been with XLRI since 2017. Prior to this, he had worked for about eight years with different organisations in research and consulting.

Mr R Ranganath

Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director

Mr Ranganath joined the Board of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited in June 2018, one among the several listed and unlisted companies that he is part of. He is also the Chairman of one of the Tata Steel subsidiaries and select Audit Committees, with over 10 years of experience in Audit committee and Board-related matters in Tata Steel, Cairn India and Bharat Petroleum.

He was VP-Finance (India and South East Asia), Tata Steel Limited till his superannuation in May 2019. He brought to the table deep expertise in Corporate Governance, Finance, Taxation and Global consolidation and Reporting. In a career spanning over 30 years, he has over 10 years of experience in in Strategy conceptualization and execution, Organization restructuring, Marketing and several Information Technology projects. He has also spearheaded many performance and process improvement initiatives in Tata Steel, Cairn India and Bharat Petroleum. Prior to his stint in Tata Steel, he worked in Cairn Energy India Ltd as Director (Finance) India Ltd, and in Bharat Petroleum as General Manager (Finance) Retail.

Mr R Ranganath is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified CEO Coach. He is currently the Advisor to MD, AirAsia India Ltd.

Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary

Chairman, Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director

Mr. Chaudhary is a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) – Mechanical from BITS, Pilani. He has undergone various prestigious management programs like Young Managers Program at INSEAD, France in 1997, Tata Group Executive Leadership Program in 2007 conducted by Michigan Ross School of Business and Executive MBA from CEDEP, France in 2008-09.

Mr Chanakya Chaudhary joined Tata Steel in 1988 as Graduate Engineer Trainee in the Raw Material Division at Jharia, Dhanbad, India. During his stint in the Collieries division, he worked in various capacities and was subsequently transferred to Total Quality Management (TQM) (Business Excellence Group), wherein he was responsible for working with various divisions of Tata Steel for getting ISO-9000 certification. He has worked as a lead assessor for Tata Group in its journey of Business Excellence and for JRD Quality Value Award based on the Malcom Baldridge Award Criteria. He was assigned as Chief Resident Executive, Delhi in 2004 and was handling Corporate Affairs of the Company. He was designated as Group Director-Corporate Communication & Regulatory Affairs on 1st November 2013 and was responsible for spear heading the Communication Strategy and Policy Advocacy for the Company.

In May 2018, Mr. Chaudhary was entrusted with the role of Vice President, Raw Materials from where he has driven many improvements to meet the current challenges and making Tata Steel’s Raw Material Supply chain robust and sustainable. With effect from November 2018, Mr. Chaudhary has been appointed as the Vice President, Corporate Services where he is handling the functions of Corporate Affairs (Administration, Corp. Communications, CSR, Security, Aviation, Sports and Medical services). He serves on the Board of Hockey Ace Foundation, Tata Steel Foundation, Medica TS Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Jamshedpur Football and Sporting Pvt. Ltd., Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Ltd., NICCO Jubilee Park Ltd., Steel City Press Ltd., T M Mining Co Ltd., Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd., S&T Mining Co Pvt. Ltd. and Tata Steel Mining Ltd. He is the co-chair of the FICCI National Sports committee, Vice Chairman of the Jharkhand State CII Council and member of the Eastern Region CII Council. He is also a member of the Communications Committee of World Steel Association (WSA).
